With the insulation installed now the work begins that really makes it look like a house. From the start I wanted to work with Custom Drywall out of Goshen, NH, because I knew from personal experience how good these guys are.
I helped Jeff Dube who owns the business with his cousin Sean buy a home when I first got into real estate. They were busy and needed help and I was not busy and needed something to do. In the short period I worked with these guys I learned what it takes to hang and finish drywall well. I can tell you these guys are better today then they were 10 years ago. I got estimates from 3 other contractors, 2 estimates were way low and clearly would have delivered a commercial quality job. Customs was in line with the other quote from a business focused on higher end work.
For our home with the focus on the outside with minimal trim and detail the sheetrock had to be perfect and it is. The Dube boys did an exceptional job, crisp, clean lines and ultra smooth surfaces.
On the painting side I was imagining Carol and I were going to get it all done ourselves initially, it quickly became apparent that was not really practical so I called another friend/client Jill Thomas who runs Village Painting. Fortunately for us she had time open and her and her co-painter Julie came along and pitched in with the painting. I have primed most everything and while doing so watched these two ladies work. I concluded I am way better off hiring them for the finish paint work, they are way better and way more efficient then I could hope to be.
