There is a new weekly magazine in town!
TheUpperValley.com is a community inspired website magazine showcasing the latest in design trends, tech updates, garden goodies, viral videos ( yes, cat videos are included), local events, music, and food. . And, speaking of food, there is even an ongoing bacon section providing you with tasty bacon-centric recipes and facts. Content is submitted by local experts, serious bloggers, and several stellar high school students. So far there are four amazing students from Hanover High School and Lebanon High School. The students will be managing the social media accounts and providing content of their choosing. Conner Koehler will be keeping us up-to-date with the latest in tech trends and Kelsey Smith will enlighten us with her posts about things going on at school, in sports, and in the Upper Valley. Both are students at Hanover High. Will Weatherly and Matt Taylor keep us clued in to area music, music trends, books and more. (In fact, Matt has a section entitled “Musician You Should Know”- and, he started with Elvis Costello). Will and Matt are students at Lebanon High School. But, that’s not all!
The design blog is written by Sarah Freihofer, a Hanover High and Dartmouth grad now living and designing in San Francisco; the garden blog is written by Charlotte Albers, of Paintbox Garden, a landscape design consulting biz out Vermont; Robert Wetzel of Lyme, NH is the in-house film critic. Bob has been a student of film for many years, traveling annually to the Telluride Film Festival, participating in various film workshops and hob-nobbing with the actors and directors and all the while blogging about it. His Oscar predictions in his his latest post were incredible. He nailed all but one. Blake Allison, also from Lyme, NH , introduces birding . Blake is the Steering Committee Chair for the Mascoma Chapter of NH Audubon Society. In addition, Blake will be talking about and recommending wines. He is an expert in that field, too.
The magazine is also working with several locals to provide information on the latest in music, tech, restaurants and in town happenings. And, our calendar will be chock full of local stuff-to-do.
More plans are in the works to add a financial planning section, a conservation and sustainability section and a classified ad section.
I recommend that you take a look at this great new addition to the Upper Valley. You will find plenty to interest you and keep you coming back!
