White River Junction is a thriving community and has become a “foodies” delight with its diverse dining scene. Thyme, Elixer (an upper valley favorite), Tuckerbox (serving amazing Turkish cuisine), Trailbreak Tacos, Peacemeal Pies, and Phenom Penh (authentic Cambodian food.. you must try the Mi Kary;). Also, Wolf Tree a creative cocktail bar and newly opened Putman’s Vine/Yard wine tasting/plant shop. In addition to great food, it has a vibrant arts community with everything from the Center for Cartoon Studies, to performances at Northern Stage and JAG. Shaker Bridge Theater will be coming to the Briggs Opera House in the Fall 2023.

Recreation
Hartford’s Parks and Recreation department hosts many town events, such as summer concerts in the park, the glory days festival (to celebrate the town's rich train history), and the polar express, !st Friday’s. Hartford has a public pool called the Sherman Manning Pool and home to the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.
Education
Dothan Brook School, Ottauquechee School, and White River School are the Elementary Schools found in Hartford VT. Hartford Middle School and Hartford High School complete the towns education system.
Transportation
Hartford, Vermont has free public transportation provided by Advanced Transit. Hartford was developed around the railroad station years ago. Today you will still find an Amtrak stop with the “Vermonter” providing service from Northern Vermont to Washington DC.
